Download and installation

Download the plugin and unzip the entire contents to /wp-content/plugins/. You should end up with the following file:
/wp-content/plugins/wp-meta-tag-generator.php

To use this plugin just browse to the Plugins page in your WordPress Administration area, and activate the plugin.

Go to “Options > General” in your WordPress admin and enter your description you would like in the tagline entry. This will be used by the plugin to generate the default description meta tag. Remember that wordpress also uses this as the description for your rss feeds.

The next step is to edit the plugin, look for $keywords = ”; on line 12 and enter your default set of keywords there. for example my variable looks like:

$keywords = ‘wil rushmer, rushmer, wordpress, wordpress plugins, php, css, xhtml, web standards’;
Using Meta Tag Generator

to generate meta tags on a per post or per page basis, use the key/value sets as:
description – small description of the post or page
keywords – keywords for post or page (also stacked with the default keywords assigned earlier).

Heres a step by step rundown of entering the keywords for a post:
under the heading of “Add a new custom field to this post” on the edit or add post/page form type in keywords under the “key” heading
under value enter the keywords, seperated by a comma. What you should end up with, looks like below.

When you are finished hit the “add custom field button”. Repeat the process for the description.
