When it comes to holiday or days off  i will give two thumbs up to Indonesian, since we have 5 major religions that the authority has to accommodate each religions holydays and of course public holidays such as Independence day, New Year and especially in Bali ,which has plenty of holydays ( Galungan, Kuningan,Sarasawati, Pagerwesi etc ). So here is the list of the Indonesia official holidays for 2009 excluding Balinese holydays (except Nyepi that has become national holiday).

• 21 May 2009 – The Ascension of Jesus Christ into Heaven
• 20 July 2009 – Isra Mi’raj Prophet Mohammad SAW – Celebrating the Ascension of The Prophet Muhammad
• 17 August 2009 – Indonesian National Independence Day
• 21-22 September 2009 – Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1430 H
• 23 September 2009 – Shared Holiday by Government Decree
